At a glance
Spotter is a browser-based fitness and coaching product. We collect only the information we need to run accounts, deliver training features, provide customer support, maintain billing and entitlement status, and secure the service.
Camera and movement analysis features are designed so that core analysis can run on-device in the browser when supported. Some related metadata, history, transcripts, support information, and account-level records may still be stored on our systems when necessary to operate product features you use.
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how long we keep it, when we share it, and what rights and choices you have.
Scope of this policy
This Privacy Policy applies to Spotter websites, web applications, coaching features, uploads, account flows, billing flows, communications, and any related support interactions that link to or reference this policy.
It does not govern third-party services that you may access through Spotter, including payment processors, app stores, analytics vendors, identity providers, social sign-in providers, and external websites. Those services operate under their own terms and privacy notices.
Information we collect
Account and identity information: name, email address, sign-in method, user ID, profile photo if provided by an identity provider, timezone, and account preferences.
Training and product data: exercise selections, rep-count outputs, session timestamps, performance summaries, training history, coach interactions, notes, preferences, and feature usage data associated with your account.
Video and media data: when you choose to upload or submit media, we process the files, file metadata, derived analysis outputs, and any feedback results needed to generate the requested feature output. We do not claim ownership of user-uploaded content.
Billing and entitlement data: plan status, purchase state, membership status, subscription identifiers, invoice or transaction references, and provider metadata needed to confirm access to paid features.
Technical and device information: browser type, approximate location inferred from IP address, device type, operating system, app version, referral URLs, crash and error logs, performance telemetry, and security-related events.
Support and communications: messages you send to us, bug reports, screenshots, survey responses, and records of support requests or account-related communications.
How we collect information
We collect information directly from you when you create an account, sign in, edit your profile, connect billing, upload content, contact support, or otherwise interact with Spotter.
We collect certain information automatically through server logs, browser storage, session state, diagnostics, and similar technologies required to run the service, remember settings, prevent abuse, and understand service reliability.
We may receive information from third parties you choose to use with Spotter, such as authentication providers and billing or membership providers, in order to verify identity, entitlement, or account state.
How we use information
We use personal information to provide, maintain, secure, improve, and support Spotter. This includes authenticating users, storing account state, generating training results, restoring history, and enabling support responses.
We use information to operate paid products and entitlements, including verifying billing status, enforcing plan limits, preventing fraud, and handling refunds, disputes, or access restoration where applicable.
We use diagnostics and usage data to troubleshoot errors, monitor performance, detect abuse, understand how features are used, and guide product decisions.
We may use contact information to send service notices, security alerts, account communications, product updates, legal notices, and transactional messages. Where required by law, we will obtain consent before sending promotional communications.
Legal bases for processing
Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we generally process personal information because it is necessary to perform our contract with you, because it is necessary for our legitimate interests in operating and securing Spotter, because you have provided consent, or because processing is required to comply with legal obligations.
If we rely on consent for a particular activity, you may withdraw that consent at any time, although this will not affect processing already carried out before withdrawal.
Data retention
We keep personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, maintain account continuity, comply with law, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and preserve legitimate business records.
Retention periods vary by data type. Account information is generally retained while your account remains active. Billing, tax, fraud-prevention, and security records may be retained longer where required or justified. Backup copies may persist for a limited period after deletion.
If you request deletion, we will delete or de-identify personal information that we are not required or permitted to keep, subject to our operational and legal retention needs.
International data transfers
Spotter may use service providers located in countries other than your own. When personal information is transferred across borders, we take steps intended to provide an appropriate level of protection under applicable law.
Depending on your location, those steps may include contractual safeguards, vendor due diligence, and technical or organizational measures designed to protect transferred data.
Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, export, restrict, or object to certain processing of your personal information. You may also have the right to appeal a decision on a privacy request where required by law.
You can manage some information directly in your account settings. For account deletion, access requests, correction requests, or other privacy requests, contact us using the information below.
You may also control certain browser-level settings, such as cookie handling, local storage, and site permissions, including camera or microphone permissions.
Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration. These measures may include access controls, logging, vendor management, encryption in transit, and environment separation where appropriate.
No system is completely secure. For that reason, we cannot guarantee absolute security, and you should also use strong account credentials, protect your devices, and notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access.
Children's privacy
Spotter is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect product changes, legal changes, or operational updates. When we do, we will update the effective date above and, when appropriate, provide additional notice inside the product or by email.
Your continued use of Spotter after an updated policy becomes effective means you acknowledge the revised policy to the extent permitted by law.
